Hi, my name is Sara, and I have been working as a therapist supporting children, adolescents and young adults for over fourteen years. I have worked in various settings including private practice, schools, agencies and a youth counselling charity.
I am passionate about the work that I do and encourage young people in a non-judgemental and creative way to explore the difficulties that they are facing, working together towards positive change.
I have an MA in Child, Adolescent and Family Psychotherapy, a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and a Diploma in Sandplay therapy. To ensure that my practice remains up to date I undertake regular continuing professional development training courses.
If you are looking for an experienced child therapist to support yourself or a young person that you are concerned about, please do get in touch to find out more about how I work and what I am able to offer.
My practice is based in Central Winchester a short walk from the train station. I offer in person, face to face counselling sessions, and online therapy sessions on Zoom. Depending on your needs and what you are looking for, I am able to offer either short or long-term counselling support. I am experienced at working with children, adolescents and young adults between the ages of 4 and 25. I am also able to offer therapeutic support to parents and families.
Life can be challenging for young people and having a confidential space to explore these challenges and be truly seen and heard, can be transformative. Counselling provides a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk to a trained professional about any issues or concerns. Sessions are held regularly on a weekly basis, and last for 50 minutes.
I have experience in supporting young people with a wide range of issues including: generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, self-harm, depression, anger, suicidal thoughts, bullying, domestic abuse and violence, behavioural issues, cultural integration, health issues, family circumstances, family separation, neurodiversity, sexuality, gender questioning, disordered eating, academic pressures, grief, sibling rivalry, parental conflict, and many other issues.
My work is neuro-affirmative and I have supported young people through the assessment, diagnosis and post diagnosis process for ASC (autism spectrum condition) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
My practice is informed by person-centred, attachment and transpersonal theory, and I believe that the quality of the therapeutic relationship has a significant impact on the therapeutic outcome. I offer creative and reflective counselling sessions, incorporating solution focused approaches into my work as required.
I am a BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) member and I work within the BACP’s Ethical Framework. Please visit the BACP website for further details. I have a Level 3 safeguarding qualification and an enhanced DBS.
Please get in touch if you would like to find out more about how I work and what I am able to offer.
